A retired NYPD detective, Sean O’Neill, tragically killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in a m*rder-su*cide, according to authorities. The horrifying incident unfolded inside their Westchester County home while their three children were present.
Sean O’Neill, 54, is believed to have sh*t his wife, Arlene O’Neill, multiple times following a domestic dispute around 7 a.m., according to Yonkers police.
Arlene, 47, who was a beloved fifth-grade teacher in Tuckahoe, was found by emergency responders who tried to save her life, but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. After shooting his wife, Sean O’Neill reportedly took his own life by shooting himself in the head.
“The couple’s three children were present at home during the tragic incident but were not physically harmed,” authorities stated in an official release. “They are now being cared for by relatives.”
Arlene O’Neill, a beloved teacher at Anne Hutchinson School in the Eastchester school district, was remembered by superintendent Ronald D. Valenti in a message to parents. Valenti also noted that the couple’s three children are all students within the same school district.
