A home health care worker has been arrested and charged following allegations of assaulting a 95-year-old woman she was responsible for caring for.
The aide, Oluwanifemi Aborisade, was reportedly caught on home surveillance footage attacking Dorothy Foye inside her Harlem apartment back in July, a source close to the case shared with The Post.
Home Health Aide Charged in Assault on Elderly Woman
Aborisade, a Queens resident, was taken into custody on Tuesday and faces charges in Manhattan Supreme Court, including two counts of second-degree assault, which could lead to a prison sentence of up to seven years and one count of endangering the welfare of an elderly person.
According to court records, Oluwanifemi Aborisade pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently being held on $25,000 bail. The case has garnered attention due to the disturbing nature of the alleged assault on the elderly woman, and the legal process is ongoing as Aborisade faces serious potential consequences if convicted.
Violent Attack Captured on Home Security Footage
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the altercation between Oluwanifemi Aborisade and Dorothy Foye began over a disagreement about changing Foye’s bedsheets. The situation escalated when Aborisade allegedly started throwing objects at Foye, punched her several times, and struck her with a metal kitchen pot.
Foye, who relies on a walker and an oxygen tank, was seen in security footage pleading for mercy and trying to defend herself using a backscratcher.
Alleged Perpetrator Flees the Scene After Assault
Tiffany Mitchell, Foye’s granddaughter, told The Post that when she initially called to check on her grandmother, the aide claimed everything was fine. However, upon calling again, Mitchell was horrified to overhear Aborisade allegedly screaming profanities in the background.
Legal Action and Charges Against the Home Health Aide
Aborisade, who had been hired by Medflyt at Home, a Brooklyn-based home healthcare service, allegedly threw water and garbage around the apartment before fleeing the scene, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Dorothy Foye, who had once worked as a home health aide herself, was left bruised, sore, and deeply shaken by the incident, her family shared with The Post. The attack not only caused physical harm but left Foye emotionally traumatized.
