He died on October 12, 2024, at the age of 61, while hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains in northern Los Angeles County, U.S. His 19-year-old son has been charged with murder in connection with his death.

Witnesses reported seeing a man, later identified as Lowe’s son, Emir Abadzic Lowe, fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The 19-year-old was involved in a solo crash a few miles from the crime scene and was arrested after authorities matched evidence from the scene with witness accounts.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged him with one count of murder in connection with his father’s death.
Details regarding the motive for the incident remain ambiguous. The district attorney’s office has not yet confirmed when Emir Lowe will make his court appearance or if he has secured legal representation.
